Russ graduated from Idaho State University in 1941 with a Forestry Degree. After 4 years with the US Navy, he continued to serve in the U SForest Service in N. Idaho and W. Montana until 1960 when he was assigned to the HQ, USFS in Washington DC. He retired from the USFS in 1973 and he and Betty moved to a house on Flathead Lake at Big Arm, Montana. They spent the next several years RVing around the US. Dad had a heart attack in Oregon following a motor home trip to Mexico in 1979.
