Corporal Richardson was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was seriously wounded while fighting the enemy in Korea on January 26, 1953 and returned to duty shortly thereafter. He was Killed in Action on while defending "Outpost Berlin", Korea on July 19, 1953. Corporal Richardson was awarded the Purple Heart with Gold Star, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
