n July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon. Before his momentous first steps, Armstrong served as a naval aviator in the Korean War and flew in the Gemini 8 mission. After he took that “one small step,” Armstrong continued to work at NASA, taught as a professor at the University of Cincinnati, and was awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor. He continues to live a private life and avoids media attention.
