James Jardine **Allen, WWII AAC - Jim flew 69 Combat Missions in the B-25 Mitchell as the Flight Engineer over Italy, he was stationed on the Island of Corsica, France. **He was awarded five medals and one Presidential Unit Citation, including the Air Medal with seven oak leaf clusters.

CUYAHOGA FALLS, OHIO …. James Jardine Allen passed away February 26, 2013 at Mulberry Gardens. Jim was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on July 20, 1924 to Frederick and Margaret Allen. He grew up in Allendale and Ramsey, New Jersey. He graduated from Ramsey High School in 1942. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls. He was in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. He flew 69 Combat Missions as a Flight Engineer on the B25J Bomber in the 487th Bomber Squadron stationed on Corsica. He was awarded 5 medals and one Presidential Unit Citation, including the Air Medal with 7 oak leaf clusters. Jim was a member of American Legion Post 281of Cuyahoga Falls. He was a member and contributed WWII memorabilia to the Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. He was also a member of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C. He was also a life member of the 57th Bomber Wing. He graduated as an Aeronautical Design Engineer from the Academy of Aeronautics at LaGuardia Field, NY in 1953. Jim and his family moved to the Akron Area in 1953. They lived in the same home in Cuyahoga Falls from 1956 to 2012. Jim retired from Goodyear Aerospace Corp. on March 1, 1987 after 27 years of service. Jim was a Master Mason in Hawthorne Fortitude Lodge 200 F & AM Ramsey, NJ for over 50 years. Jim served in many capacities in his 40 plus years in the Boy Scouts of America. Jim spent many happy hours attending classes at Kent State University as a Senior Guest student and as a volunteer in the Kent State Map Library. Jim was an avid volunteer. He was a member of the Customer Advisory Councils at both the Akron and Cuyahoga Falls Post Offices and a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Tree Board, and was a volunteer at the Metro Parks of Summit County. He is preceded in death by his mother & father, Frederick & Margaret Allen and his brothers, Frederick Jr. and Walter and youngest son, John Henion Allen. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Claire, his children, James Jr. and wife Nancy of New Jersey, his daughter Joy A. Bissett and husband Tom Bissett of Worthington, OH, Judith A. Ketchum and her husband Roy Ketchum of Willoughby, OH. Jim is also survived by his 6 grandchildren whom he loved very much, Lindsey Jane Allen, Elizabeth Claire (Betsy) Allen, Marcella Marie Bissett, Matthew Allen Ketchum, Michael G. Allen, and Benjamin J. Allen and 5 wonderful great grandchildren. He is also survived by a cousin, Elinore Hart Couch of Lincoln, Delaware and many nieces and nephews.

Hi Barbi - my dad was James J Allen, flight engineer. He took care of the planes and if you read his story "Million dollar experience I wouldn't give a plugged nickel for" you'll get an idea of his tinkering. I don't have a scanner but I do have some of the pictures. Am sending some memorabilia to National WWII museum in New Orleans too. My brother inherited most of the pics, he sends them every so often. He passed 2013. He was told he'd never walk down the aisle with me because of his experiences, but he did. Just got back from Pearl Harbor. Anything you're looking for in particular? Joy B
