McKnight's crew flew "Hi-Ho SIlver" on their 3rd, 6th, 9th & 12th missions.
McKnight's crew flew this aircraft "borrowed" from the 401st Bomb Squadron for their fifth mission on 2 January 1945.
Eddie's crew flew "Peace Or Bust" on back-to-back missions, 10 & 14 January 1945.
The McKnight crew was aboard "Happy Valley Express" only once - for their 21 January 1945 sortie.
On 1 February 1945, McKnight's crew "borrowed" this aircraft from the 322nd Bomb Squadron for their mission assignment.
The 16 February 1945 mission to Gelsenkirchen found McKnight's crew flying B-17G serial 43-38901 "Star Dust," loaned from the 322nd Bomb Squadron.
B-17G serial 44-6618 (coded OR-U) suffered this landing mishap around 17 January 1945. Following repairs, Eddie's crew was the first to fly this "no name" Fort, for their 19 February sortie.

The outlined portions deal specifically with Eddie's loss on 20 February 1945; references to notification "last Friday" most likely date them around 23 February. The center column, titled "Lost Fliers' Fate Known" is a clipping from post-May 1945.
