Merle Massie, of Mashpee, most recently of Falmouth, 90, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020.

Born in Lodi, Ohio and raised in New London, Ohio, Merle enlisted in the US Navy upon his graduation from New London High School. While stationed in Pensacola, FL, he met his future wife, Teresa Tarzia (Massie). They were married for 61 years. After serving 22 years in the US Navy, Merle honorably retired as a Master Chief in 1969. He then retired from Simplex Time Recorder 1992. Teresa and Merle moved to Mashpee in 1993. He was a member of Christ the King Church in Mashpee.

Merle was preceded in death by wife, Teresa and his parents, James and Sophronia Massie of New London, Ohio. He is survived by his sister, Marie Allen of Willard, Ohio, brother James Massie of Lorain, Ohio, daughter, Valerie Massie-Boyer and her husband Richard, of Walker, LA,. He was an uncle to several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday January 9, 2020 at 10 AM in Christ the King Church, Mashpee, MA. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on Monday January 11, 2021 at 10AM.
