Phoenix, AZ - Robert "Bob" Merle Bowlsby, 90, of Phoenix, Arizona died February 12, 2018.

Visitation was at Camino del Sol, Funeral Chapel - 13738 Camino del Sol, Sun City West, Arizona. He was born August 7, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa. The son of Merle E. and Ruth A. Bowlsby, deceased. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, in 1941 and Iowa State University in 1950. He retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1982, as a Naval Aviator, with the rank of Lieutenant Senior grade. He saw service in Shanghai, China, with Patrol Bombing Squadron 26, aboard the USS Salisbury Sound. Subsequent to active duty, in 1947, he served in the Naval Reserve Squadron VP-882, flying out of NAS Olathe, Kansas.

Mr. Bowlsby worked for the Del E. Webb Corp. for 10 years and then opened his own office as Robert M. Bowlsby Associates. His office prepared numerous community master plans and mobile home parks. He served as a member of the State Board of Technical Registration, Reserve Officers of the Naval Service (RONS Club), American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), American Society of Planning Officials (ASPO) and the Grace Methodist Church.

He was married to Leah Lorrain Zimmerlin, Registered Nurse, July 19, 1952 (deceased in December 2007) and survived by his daughter, Robin Lee Bowlsby, of Phoenix, AZ. And his brother Dale F. Bowlsby of Des Moines and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be sent to the Assistant League of Phoenix, 9224 N. 5th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020.
