PEORIA -- Glen F. Sankey, 74, of Peoria died at 1:08 p.m.

Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at Proctor Hospital.

Born Jan. 2, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., to Ira D. and Edith Jane Smith Sankey, he married Jean D. Althaus on Nov. 12, 1948, in Lawrence, Kan. She survives.

Also surviving is one brother, Howard E. of Sacramento, Calif.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving as a pilot. In 1948, he graduated with a degree in engineering from Kansas University in Lawrence.

He was a service engineer at Caterpillar Inc. for 37 years. In 1958, he was selected to represent Caterpillar in the U.S. Navy program Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica.

Cremation has been accorded. Services will be private. Burial will be in Lawrence, Kansas. Arrangements are by Cumerford-Endsley-Diggle Funeral Home.
