Grice E. Sexton, age 98, died on Sunday April 8, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, Manhattan, Kansas.

He was born on January 11, 1920 in Abilene, Kansas the son of Ernest and Edith (Grice) Sexton. Edith passed away when he was three. He was raised by his step-mother Naomi Sexton. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1938 and entered into the United States Navy after Pearl Harbor. Grice went onto the Army Air Corp as a pilot and was honorably discharged in 1946. He then joined Kansas Farm Bureau and served as the safety director from 1949 until 1966. From 1966 until 1976, he worked for Columbian Securities.

Grice loved to fly! He flew for over 70 years and in that time, he taught hundreds of people to fly and was proud of receiving the Masters Airman’s Award from the FAA. He also loved to be with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He was a member of both University Christian Church and First Christian Church of Manhattan, he was on the KS Bank Board from 1969 until 2010; was a member of Lafayette Lodge #16, the ISIS Shrine.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife: Letha in 2007; a son-in-law: John Reynard in 2001; a daughter-in-law: Sarah Sexton in 2003 and a brother: Jack Sexton.

Survivors include a son: Joe Sexton and his wife Kathy of Manhattan; a daughter: Jean Ann Reynard of Manhattan; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother: Bill Sexton and his wife Darlene of Abilene; a sister: Gladys Olson of Fairway, Kansas and many other family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday April 13, 2018 at the University Christian Church 2800 Claflin Road, Manhattan, Kansas. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.

Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas.
