On Aug 24 1943 is the launching of the USS Jordan (DE-2014) at the Charleston Navy yard. The wife of LT Julian Jordan Lucy raised money (selling war bonds) to have it sponsored for the late LT Julian Jordan. The vessel was paid off by the Georgians who over- subscribed a $37,7750.00 war bond campaign to replace the cruiser Atlanta, lost off Guadalcanal. **This also went to another ship for another Georgian**

USS Jordan (DE-204) was named in honor of LT Julian B Jordan (1904-1941), who was killed in action aboard the USS Oklahoma during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7th 1941. Jordan was laid down on June 5 1943 by the Charleston Navy Yard; launched on Aug 23rd 1943; it was sponsored by the Mrs. Lucy H. Jordan, widow of LT Julian Jordan, commissioned on Dec 17 1943, LT Commander F.C. Billing was in command.

On a training mission on Sept 18th 1945 the Jordan collided with a merchant vessel, the SS John Sherman, necessitating immediate repairs. She arrived Charleston on 4 October and remained there until she decommissioned on 19 December 1945. The ship was scrapped in 1947
