USS Russell (DD-414) muster report 10 May 1942

On 10 Nov 1941 S2c Walker was assigned to VT-2 for duty aboard the USS Lexington (CV-2). On May 8th 1942 S1c Walker was aboard the Lady Lex (the first USS Lexington) when it was torpedoed and eventually sunk during the battle of the Coral Sea. The cruiser USS Minneapolis (CA-36) picked him up. On May 10th he was transferred to the destroyer USS Russell (DD-414) and on May 15th he was transferred over to the USS Barnett (APA-5) for transport back to San Diego.
