Mrs. Edith Zimmerman remembered that his nickname was “Buster”.

His niece, Patsy Crenshaw said that Louis Allen Davis had nicknames of Buck and Buster. He had 9 siblings. She said that his sister, Georgia Davis Foster, told her in 1995 that he died in Paris, France on VE Day [8 May 1945] of non-combat causes. She also told her that he had married a girl from Arkansas during military training but had no children. She said he was buried overseas.

Mocksville Enterprise, 25 May 1945: “Dies of Wounds. Staff Sgt. Louis A. (“Buck”) Davis, son of Mrs. Lula Davis of Advance, died in France on May 10 from wounds, according to a telegram his mother received. He entered service on Aug. 27, 1942 and trained at Ft. Knox, Camp Campbell, Ky., Camp Perry, Ohio, and Camp Chaffee, Ark. before going overseas in Feb., 1945. He received the 16th Armored Division citation at Camp Chaffee and was awarded the Silver Star. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, the former Miss Bonnie Mize of Ft. Smith, Ark.; two sisters and three brothers. Photo of Louis from this article.
