Daniel O’Sheal still owned land near George Barry (500 acres), William Deerman, and Moses Fusill. (Northwest corner near these land owners' records.)

Some have speculated that a female named, Treecy aka Teresa O'Sheal, was the daughter of Daniel O'Sheal; however, I cannot prove her parentage. It is possible Treecy could have been the daughter of John O'Sheal or Jethro O'Sheal because Treresa lived into her nineties.

The name Jefferson O'Shields supposedly appears in the 1820 Census Record in Spartanburg, SC, but the record is badly damaged and cannot be verified as Jefferson, but the name Jefferson was used in the O'Sheal family at a later time.

My firm conviction at this time is based on the marriage between one Sarah O'Sheal and Richard Routen/Roughton, 8 January 1789, Tyrrell County, North Carolina. I believe the missing child's name was Sarah O'Sheal, and of course, she being named after her mother, Sarah Walker O'Sheal.

I have a copy of the original marriage bond between Richard Routen and Sarah O'Sheal as well as a copy of Richard Routen's Will. Some in the Routen family have argued Sarah was not an O'Sheal, and they believe it was O'Neal. The name O'Sheal is clearly written. Also, Richard signed his name, and apparently, he could read and write and would have seen Sarah's maiden name was either correctly or incorrectly written.

I believe Daniel O'Sheal was deceased at the time of the marriage bond between Sarah O'Sheal and Richard Routen in 1789 because in 1790, Sarah O'Sheal and children had moved to South Carolina, and Sarah was listed as head of household.
