Treadwell Jr. Smith was a private in the Virginia Sixth Cavalry for the Confederate army during the Civil War. It is estimated that his birthday was around 1839 - 1842. He has a total of 5 people in his family at that time. He was born in Clarke, Virginia and lived to be around 21 years old.

Treadwell Smith enlisted in the military on July 24, 1861. He enlisted in Fairfax, Virginia. For the months of September and October 1861, Smith was present for the Company Muster Roll. For the months November and December of 1861, Smith was absent. He was absent without leave on December 25 (Christmas Day). On March 18, 1862, Smith re-enlisted in the military. He was absent for the Muster Roll for May and June of 1862. He was absent because he was sick. For the months of September and October of 1862, Smith was present for the Muster Roll. November and December of 1862, Smith was absent because of sickness.

Smith was present on the Muster Roll for January and February of the year 1863. Smith continued his streak of being present for the date of August 31, 1863. Smith was also present for the Company Muster Roll for the months of November and December of 1863. Smith re-enlisted in the military on February 9, 1864. He was also present for the Company Muster Roll for the months of July and August of the year 1864. He was then present for the Company Muster Roll in the months of September and October of the year 1864. Smith was absent for the given date March 22, 1865. He was absent because he was a scout for General Robert E. Lee.

Smith was also enlisted in the Regimental Return. He was present for the month December in the year 1861. The only day he missed was Christmas Day (December 25); it was an absence without leave. Smith returned to the Regimental return and was present for the month of December in the year 1862. The only day he was absent on was December 30.

Smith was on the receipt roll for clothing for the third quarter of 1863. It was issued September 8, 1863. Smith was also on the receipt roll for clothing for the second quarter of 1864. it was issued on May 19, 1864. He also appears on the receipt roll for clothing again for the second quarter of 1864. This time though, it was issued on May 2, 1864. It is hard to interpret what Smith wrote, but it seems like he owed someone $500 and he paid it off on September 18, 1863.

On September 13, 1863, The Confederate States of America sent a letter to Smith. The letter states that Smith was given $300 because his horse was killed in action. The letter also says that a creed appraised at $500 was abolished by the commander of the regiment. This letter was certified by D.T. Richard; he was a part of the Eagles Braid Company of the Virginia 6th Cavalry. There are no documents or records of the death of Smith, the only thing known about his death was that he was killed by someone during the war.
