He first enlisted for 12 months an his company mustered out in 1847 at Tampico Mx. Leaving him in a company of Draggons under Capt West of New Orleans. In both Land bounty 40936 (1859) an 12465 (1847-1851)he states his residence is Catahoula Parish Louisiana. He is seen under the 1850c as George Bowie b1825 an J W Bowie b 1814 Md in the 1860c same parish.
