Pvt Assadaly was described as 5'3" tall, brown hair and blue eyes with a fair complexion.

Pvt Assadaly served with the 1st Pennsylvania Volunter Cavalry Regiment during the Civil War & was at the Battle of Fredericksburg. On September 22, 1864, Assadaly was discharged from the Satterlee Hospital with a Surgeon's Certificate.

On June 23, 1865, Assadaly reenlisted as a corporal in the regular army. Assadaly served with the 3rd US Cavalry. His enlistment ended on June 22, 1868 at Ft. Sumner in the N. Mexico Territory.

On July 21, 1868 Assadaly reenlisted into the 7th US Cavalry and was assigned to Company C. Company C was commanded by two time Medal of Honor recipient, Capt Tom Custer. Capt Custer was also the brother of LTC George Armstrong Custer.

At the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Company C was attached to LTC Custer's battalion. Assadaly was killed sometime during the fighting.

After the battle 15 soldiers from Company C, including two sergeants, were found near Calhoun Ridge on what had been the right flank of Company L.

Assadaly's body was not identified. It is likely that his unidentified remains were first buried where they had been on the battlefield.

During battlefield excavations in 1984-85, bone fragments were found on Last Stand Hill that matched the age and stature of Assadaly.

In 1881 all known battlefield burials were moved to a mass grave on Last Stand Hill.

Records list the spelling of Assadaly's first name as Anthony and Antony.
