illiam H Clark was born to Eli Clark and Sarah Miller Clark of Rising Sun Indiana Oct 15,1842 ntired in COmpany C-7th Indiana Infantry under Capt Sol Waterman who was killed at Port Republic, Virginia in 1862. William served 2 years and 9 months and was in the following battles Winchester, Va, Fredricksburg, spent five days in the wilderness , Culpepper, Cole Harbor, Rappahanox, Weldon Railroad,Petersburg, Appomatox, Port Republic, Antietuan, Gettysburg, Chancellorville and others he could not remember. June 20,1864 he was wounded in the battle of Petersburg and was sent to Lincoln General Hospital in Washington Dc where he lay for 4 months. His mother came to D C to get him as he was unable to travel alone. HE left D C one month after his actual enlistment time. This is per a dictation he did to his daughter.
