Levi Dell was born 18 May 1828 in Huntingdon County PA. He married Martha Ann Smith (1831 – 1912) 4 Jan 1848 in Blair County PA. They came to Illinois about 1857. In the 1860 census they were in Odell Twp. with children William H 7 (he died in 1863), and Charles S 4 (he died in 1864) born in PA and Elizabeth A 2 born in IL. Both William and Charles were taken back to PA for burial.

In 1870 Levi and Martha were in Nashville, TN with Elizabeth 12 born IL and Elmer 4 born TN. In 1880 they are in Chicago with only Elmer still at home. Through census records it appears he had the following children: Charles, b. 1856 in PA; Elizabeth, b. 1858 in IL; and Elmer b. 1866 in TN. Levi died in Chicago, IL 29 Nov 1904.
