Florence Angelie Lewis Bien was married to William Franklin Bien. She had 9 children. Rose Leta Hill, Ira Wilburn Bien, Thomas Jefferson Bien, Harvey Bien, Jessie C Bien, Olaff Glenn Bien, Carl Roy Bien, Lonnie Lester Bien, and Neva Christeen Bien.

Six of her sons served in WWII. Tom in the US Navy aboard the USS Mercury. Harvey, Jessie, and Olaff in the USMC. Harvey took basic training at Camp Fannin. Jessie entered into the service in January, 1942. He took basic training at Camp Roberts, CA. He served 11 months with an Infantry unit in New Guinea. Olaff entered into service in January, 1942. He also took training at Camp Roberts, CA. He served with an infantry unit in New Guinea for 29 months. Carl and Lonnie served in the US Army. Carl took his training at Fort Lewis, WA. He then served as a radio operator in a tank unit in France under General Patton. The youngest son Lonnie enetered into service in October, 1943 and was killed in action less than two months serving with infantry there.
