Lt. Nell Tucker, USN, ret., served as a WAVE from 1943 to 1946. She was the oldest living WAVE in the state of Texas when she died at the age of 94.

She received her commission as an ensign in July 1943, a Lt. in Nov. of 1945 and a permanent appointment to Lt. in Aug of 1946. She was stationed first at the Headquarters for the Eighth Naval District in New Orleans, LA and later at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, TX where she received a special commendation from Admiral J. J. Clark for having written a history of Cabbiness Field. Ms. Tucker left active duty at the end of W.W. II, but during the Korean War she went on to work with the Naval Reserve Training Center in Houston, TX where she served until she retired in 1968. She wore the following ribbons: Good Conduct, American Theatre, W. W. II Victory, and U. S. Naval Reserve.
