He was reported missing and ultimately declared dead on March 19, 1945. His B-17 #44-8008 was on a mission to Braunkohle-Benzin Synthetic Oil Plant over Bohlen, Germany. It was a Hot Camera ship and last seen over Ostend. On return and under control, it was noted that they had been hit by enemy flak while over the target and are believed to have crashed at sea. Aircraft and the crew were lost at sea, location uncertain.
