Petty Officer Maris M. Alexander was an aviation mechanic assigned to duties aboard the USS Yorktown (CV-10). He was transferred from ships company to the different squadrons as circumstances required. His time with VB-1 and VT-1 was when the ship was engaged in combat operations near Guam and the Bonin Islands.

Presumably Petty Officer Alexander was aboard the USS Yorktown for all its exploits in the Pacific from July 1943 to August 1944 (except for his temporary duty with Air Group 5 mentioned below).
AMM2c Alexander was transferred to CASU 2 for temporary duty with Air Group 5 at Barbers Point, Hawaii, Sep 8 - 20th 1943 (see first two muster reports above).
AMM1c Alexander transferred to Bombing Squadron One (VB-1) on June 21st 1944 while aboard Yorktown during combat operations near Guam and the Bonin Islands (see third muster report above).
He was transferred to Torpedo Squadron One (VT-1) shortly thereafter while aboard Yorktown during combat operations near Guam and the Bonin Islands (see squadron plaque above).
