Idee Dickey

Idee Dickey, 97, of Banner, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was born August 12, 1915, in Yalobusha County. He was a farmer and a member of Mt. Liberty Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday Shchool teacher. He served his country in World War II. Having been injured during the Battle at Normandy, he was a Purple Heart recipient.

Services were held at 11 a.m. , Monday, March 11, 2013, at Mt. Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin Jackson officiating and Bro. Jerry Smith and Bro. Bo Oswalt assisting. Burial was in Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Water Valley. Parker Memorial Funeral Homes, Inc of Bruce was in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by three daughters, Peggie Carr of Water Valley, Polly Miles of Memphis and Sandra Anglin (Clayton) of Memphis; and one son, Bobby Dickey (Shirley) of Grenada; nine grandchildren; an 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceeed in death by his parents, Samuel Dickey and Fannie Pinkerton Dickey; his wife, Nora Grace Newsom Dickey; one daughter, Lynda Dickey Parker Blount; one grandson, Archie Parker, three sisters, Dorothy Sutherland, Leler Prestage and Zelma Sutherland; and three brothers, George, Vista and Sisler Dickey. Pallbeaers were Robert Blount, Jason Carr, Dustin Dickey, Jerry Dickey, Ramey Gill, Joshua Miles, Estaban Salinas and Scott Swords.
