Henry W. Frizzell Wounded By Shell In Aachen Battle

THE 110TH HOSPITAL, ENGLAND — Hit by shrapnel from an exploding mortar shell near Aachen, Private First Class Henry W. Frizzell Infantryman of 184 Shirley Ave., Revere, Massachusetts, is now convalescing at this United States Army general hospital in England.

Pfc. Frizzell, who has been awarded the Purple Heart, "is making a satisfactory recovery" said First Lieutenant Lorance T. Krogstad of Wolf Point, Montana, his ward surgeon.

"I had my machine gun set up on a hill near a road that the Germans were spraying with mortars, 88's and machine guns," said Pfc. Frizzell. "One of the mortar shells exploded not too far from my position and I was hit in the arm by shell fragments."

Pfc. Frizzell was given medical attention at once and carried to an aid station set up in a captured German pillbox. He was later evacuated to England by plane.

Before entering the Army in December, 1942, Pfc. Frizzell operated a trucking business in Revere. He has one brother in the service, Arthur, a private in the Air Corps. His Parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Frizzell live at the Shirley Avenue address.
