Unsure if he fought for the North or South. I was told he joined the south, but was a spy for the North.

There was an article on Moses Pittman that came out in the “North & South - The Magazine of Civil War Conflict” - Volume 3; Number 1 - November 1999

Across the very top of the magazine was: Death Lists in Middle Tennessee

The name of the article that pertained to Moses Pittman was called: “Shoot If You Can By Accident” by Michael Bradley and Milan Hill. They were from the Provost Marshals File relating to two or more citizens, Record Group 418, Jan 1864.

Moses was a resident of Tennessee. Remarried in Alabama but remained a resident of Tennessee until after the outbreak of the Civil War. He then moved to Washington County, Missouri where he continued during the agitation and fighting in the Southwest and died there in Sept 1888. Prior to going west of the Mississippi, he had served under General Jessup in the Seminole War.
