Oural Hermas Lee was born and raised in Hutton Township, Coles Co. IL. After serving in the military, he met and married Rosa E. Trulock who was born and raised in Knox Co., IL. Four children were born into this family.

Oural was a farmer who was active in the community and contributed much to the Farm bureau, school district and family. He was rather gruff in speaking yet loved to tease, especially the grandchildren. He was cautious, but also generous with his assistance and advice.

He wrote home while stationed in France relating how poor the living conditions were for the average French families and asked his family to gather up clothes, shoes etc. and send them to him to be distributed locally.

Oural was a hale, hearty man who was well-liked by all who knew hin.
