Harvey Linfille Havins was born on May 5, 1914 in Wills Point, Van Zandt County, Texas, According to findagrave.com, he wsa the son of William Havins of Shafter.

He entered the Navy from California and reached the rank of Seaman First Class.

He was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 two years to the day from the day he entered the Navy and is remembered in the Courts of the Missing in the Honolulu Memorial. Harvey had been stationed permanently in Hawaii as a gunner’s mate on one of the ships sunk durimg the attack.

Harvey had two brothers A.D. Stevens and Alton Havens.
