Harold "Ted" Frederick Clark, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully Sunday August 8th with members of his family by his side at the Faren Care Center in Turners Falls Massachusetts, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease.

Better known as Ted to family and friends, he graduated from West Springfield High School in 1941 with a varsity letter in tennis. During school, Ted excelled in art, math and woodworking. After graduation he attended the Springfield Art School and worked at Indian Motorcycle Co. until he joined the Army during World War II. While Ted served his country in the Army 3253d Engineering Detachment, he continued his drawing and painting.

While stationed in Iceland, he sent paintings home and they were exhibited in a Springfield museum. Ted also served in France and Germany and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class on November 12, 1945.

Ted worked at Strathmore Paper Company in West Springfield until the onset of his disease (~1965). While at Strathmore he exhibited his paintings at the Eastern States Exposition and the NAMTA Convention in New York. Even after the onset of his illness he continued his passion for painting and playing bridge.
