ELLISVILLE - Stuart "Sam" Chatterton, 82, of Ellisville died at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at the Avon Nursing Home, Avon, IL.

He was born Friday, April 10, 1925, in Ellisville, the son of Ray Oliver and Leta (Norris) Chatterton. He married Jeanne Green July 10, 1949, in Farmington. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by three daughters, Debbie Burkhead, Aurora, Kim Weese, Aledo, and Kelly Mack, Washington, Ill.; two sons, Greg Chatterton, Ellisville, and Brett Chatterton, Avon; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anna Mary Griffith, Canton.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.

He was born and reared in Ellisville where he lived and farmed all of his life.

He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He attended the Prairie City Presbyterian Church and Checkrow Community Church.

Burial will be in the Ellisville Cemetery, Ellisville.

Corman Memorial Home Roseville is in charge of arrangements.
