John “Jack" L. Buckley was born on September 9, 1948. He passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Rapid City, South Dakota.

Jack graduated from Gettysburg High School, Gettysburg, SD, in 1966. He went into the Army in February of 1967, served in Vietnam and was severely wounded, and was honorably discharged in January of 1969. He then went on to obtain his degree in Fish, Game, and Wildlife.

Jack had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved western movies and above all, his family.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Mary Buckley of Rapid City, SD; his children JJ “Bert” Buckley of Rapid City, SD; Jessy “Toehead” Buckley of Dell Rapids, SD; Sean “Turkey Seany Boy” Buckley of Clovis, CA; his siblings Bill Buckley of Summerset, SD, Ginny Stewart of Texas City, TX, Steve Buckley Ramsdell of Piedmont, SD and Danny Buckley Ramsdell of Piedmont, SD.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Alice Ramsdell Buckley and father, Francis Edward Buckley. Memorials can be directed to Disabled American Veterans.

Services will be held at on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Hills View Evangelical Free Church in Piedmont, SD. Because of covid restrictions, services will also be livestreamed through Kirk Funeral Home. A private burial service will be held at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
