Crouch was a Passenger on C-47A #42-24077 Troop Transport. They took off from England with a crew of 4 men and 17 Paratrooper passengers for a parachute drop over France on D-Day. Plane was shot down by German Anti-Aircraft fire and crashed.

All 21 men of the crew and paratroopers were killed. #42-24077 incident on June 6, 1944.
