My great great great grandfather, Ezra Dickinson (1800-1886), served in Company F of the 44th Indiana Infantry (Col. Hugh B. Reed, Commander), mustered in on 22 November 1861 (organized at Fort Wayne, Indiana, then moving to Henderson, Kentucky, in December). It was part of the 13th Brigade (5th Division, Dept. of the Ohio, then 3rd Division, Dept. of West Tennessee). He was mustered out on April 28, 1862, for disability.

He applied for a veteran's pension (as an "invalid") on 29 April 1868 (pension application no. 133019; certificate no. 92987). The 1883 List of Pensioners states that he was receiving $18.00 per month. His address was the Auburn Post Office, Indiana, and he was pensioned for disease of the lungs (perhaps the condition from which he would die).

He died on 17 September 1886, Auburn, DeKalb County, Indiana. He made a will (probated on 20 September 1886), but it was apparently burned in a courthouse fire. His widow (that would be his fifth wife Rebecca) received a widow's pension based on his Civil War Service (her Application No. 345779; Pension Certificate No. 271930).
