Finley at Jackson County, Florida, for a period of 3 years or the war (Company Muster Roll for April 2nd to April 21st, 1862)

He is reported on Company Muster Roll for May through June 1862 as being transferred to Captain Cawthon’s Company, Company H (Union Rebels), 6th Regiment Florida Infantry, on June 30th, 1862.

He is reported joined by transfer on June 30th, 1862, on Company Muster Roll for April 1st to July 1st, 1862.

On July 1st, 1862, Henry Clark enlisted at Knoxville, Tennessee as a substitute for Stephen Cawthon.

Stephen Cawthon next appears in Company Muster Roll date December 31st, 1864 through May 5th, 1865, as a Private in Company I, 5th Battalion Florida Cavalry. He is documented as enlisting in that unit on January 16th, 1864 at Henry County, Alabama.

He appears on a Roll of Prisoners of War [undated] stating that he surrendered at Quincy, Florida on May 11th, 1865 and was paroled from there on May 24th, 1865.
